Creating a Logo for Your Medical Practice

A logo may not be on the top of your list of priorities. Sure, it shows up on your business cards and letterhead. You might put it on your website and some of your marketing materials, but have not really thought much about it. It’s time to step back and look closely at how valuable a good logo is to a business. A logo is an essential element in any company’s branding. It represents your practice’s expertise, commitment to excellence, and reinforces the idea of your medical practice being THE place to get the treatment people are looking for.

If your medical practice is looking to develop a new logo, consider the following tips:

  • Make sure it is unique. Your logo is a symbol of your medical practice and the unique benefits it offers. Set yourself apart from the competition and avoid looking to other practices in your area for inspiration. Think about what your practice is all about, its core values, and develop a graphic representation of them. Work with a graphic designer to identify representative images. Embrace some visual tension. Making elements off-center, overlapping them, putting them in different shapes—these are all qualities that will make your logo unique and recognizable.
  • Make sure it is simple. Some of the most well-known brands have very simple logos. Avoid an overly intricate logo design. A clean, simple logo will be easier to see in any size and more recognizable.
